Chokramudi Sunrise: Above the Clouds

A breathtaking 4-hour expedition to one of Munnar's highest vantage points for a true mountain sunrise.

Detailed Itinerary

The Early Expedition

We meet at 5:00 AM in Munnar town to begin our journey while the stars are still out. The trek starts with a calm, atmospheric walk through the high-altitude grasslands. As the cool mountain air clears your head, we begin a gradual ascent through the rolling hills of the Chokramudi range.

The Ascent

As we climb higher, the landscape shifts from soft hills to rugged mountain terrain. This is the best time to spot local wildlife and rare bird species that are only active in the early hours. The trail is exhilarating but manageable, offering a true sense of adventure as we approach the summit.

The Cloud-Level Sunrise

Reach the peak just in time to witness a legendary sunrise. From this altitude, you are often standing above a blanket of mist, watching the sun ignite the Western Ghats. It is a 360-degree panoramic spectacle that makes Chokramudi one of the most photographed spots in Kerala.

Summit
Break

While you soak in the vast views of the surrounding valleys and distant peaks, enjoy a well-earned break with refreshments and drinking water. We take plenty of time at the summit for photography and rest before we begin our scenic descent back through the grasslands.

What our Guests Say

★★★★★

Chokramudi is on another level compared to the tea garden walks. Standing above the clouds at 6 AM was a spiritual experience. It’s a bit of a climb but the guide was very supportive.

If you want a 'real' mountain trek, this is it. The sunrise was the best we've seen in India. We even spotted some Nilgiri Tahr on the way up! Everything was handled—entry fees, water, and snacks. High-quality experience

The 5 AM start was tough but once you reach the top, you forget the climb. It’s very peaceful and much less crowded than other spots. Our guide knew all the best spots for photos. Perfect for nature lovers.
